Submission Guidelines for Articles

Please adhere to the following general guidelines:

  1. Articles should be typed, double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font, full justified with 1 inch margins, written in English, and comprised of approximately 6,000-8,000 words including footnotes.

  2. Pages should be numbered (bottom center).

  3. A 150-200 word abstract should appear immediately under the author’s name.

  4. The author’s name and institutional affiliation should appear only on the first page. Since articles are refereed using a double-blind system of peer review, authors are asked to hide their identity as much as possible from the body of the article as well as from the footnotes. Thus, try to avoid such phrases in as “see my article in…” or “as I have previously written…”

  5. All articles must be submitted electronically as a Microsoft Word attachment to:
    Zion Zohar at zoharz@fiu.edu

  6. Articles may not be pending publication elsewhere, nor may they have been previously published.

  7. If an article is accepted for publication, authors understand that they have granted an exclusive license to the Journal for the Study of Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewry. As part of the license agreement, authors may use their own material in other publications (upon approval, see item 8 below) provided that this journal is acknowledged as the original place of publication.

  8. Requests for permission to reprint material found in this journal should be addressed to:
